Description

1479 – A 2.56 x 2 x 1.25 -inch specimen of cream Barite on light purple Fluorite from Qinglong. Guizhou Province, China.  Barite on fluorite from Qinglong, China, formed from hydrothermal fluids that circulated through deep faults in the region’s limestone bedrock. These hot, mineral-rich solutions, likely derived from sources in the Lower Paleozoic basement rocks, carried dissolved elements like calcium, fluorine, and barium. As the fluids cooled and lost pressure within open spaces like vugs and fractures, the minerals precipitated, resulting in barite crystals forming on the fluorite that had previously crystallized.
