Description
#3123 – A 2 x 1.6 x 1.4-inch specimen of Tourmaline on Albite from Minas Gerais, Brazil. Pink to light green Tourmaline crystals up to 1.4 inches in length occur in white Albite. A very reasonably priced specimen for Tourmaline. Tourmaline on albite from Minas Gerais, Brazil, originates from complex, lithium-rich granite pegmatites formed during the late stages of a mountain-building event. The tourmaline crystals, like the gem-quality elbaite found there, grew in these late-stage, high-temperature environments alongside other minerals like albite. The widespread and diverse mineral wealth of the region, including tourmaline, is due to the large concentration of these unique pegmatites within the Eastern Brazilian Pegmatite Province.
