#3201 – A 5 x 4.25 x 3.25-inch specimen of royal purple Amethyst Quartz from Rio Grande Do Sul, Brazil.  This specimen sits upright perfectly for displaying.  A must for any collector.  Amethyst from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, formed within geodes inside basaltic lava flows of the Paraná Continental Flood Basalt Province. The process involved initial volcanic activity creating cavities (vesicles) in the rock, followed by a hydrothermal process where hot, mineral-rich fluids flowed through these cavities, depositing silica and iron impurities to form quartz crystals.
