Description
#3205 A 1.77 x 1.1 x 1 – inch dark red Almandite crystal from the Little Pine Mine, Marshall, North Carolina. This crystal was collected in 1996. The almandine garnets from the Little Pine Mine in Marshall, North Carolina, formed through regional metamorphism under conditions of high heat and pressure, occurring within a chlorite mica schist host rock. The geologic processes took place during the first mountain-building stages of the Appalachian Mountains, over 450 million years ago.
