Description

#3202 – A 3.3 x 2.8 x 1.8-inch Celestite geode from Boeny, Madagascar.  Blue Celestite crystals up to .8 inches in size are nestled in the interior of this geode half.  An excellent selection from a famed locality for the last 30 years.  Celestite geodes from Boeny, Madagascar, formed in sedimentary rock layers from circulating groundwater. These solutions, likely originating from seawater, dissolved pre-existing calcium sulfate nodules, leaving behind a cavity. Strontium from the groundwater then precipitated within these cavities as strontium sulfate, creating the beautiful celestite crystals.
