#1385 – A 2.1 x 2.1 x .8 -inch light Amethyst crystals nestled in a hollow quartz geode half bordered by an outer layer of bluish gray Chalcedony from Las Choyas, Chihuahua, Mexico. Most geodes from Mexico rarely have Amethyst in them. Las Choyas geodes formed in an igneous environment, specifically within a 44 million-year-old rhyolitic tuff (volcanic ash flow) deposit in Chihuahua, Mexico.
