#3022 – A 1.75 x 1.6 x .6-inch Clay inclusion Quartz specimen from Zhob Region, Baluchistan, Pakistan.  The brown clay inclusion shows internal lattice of this exquisite specimen.  Clay-inclusioned quartz from the Zhob region, specifically Faden quartz, originated from a “crack-seal” process, where quartz crystals grew within rock fractures in a dynamic process of fracture and fluid-induced sealing. The clay inclusions are remnants of the mineral-rich fluids that filled these fractures, and they were trapped as the quartz crystals grew and healed the cracks.
