Description
#3023 – A 2.6 x 2 x 1.02 – inch Quartz specimen with brown Clay inclusions from the Zhob Region, Baluchistan, Pakistan. This specimen resembles the fenster Quartz specimens that were from Mexico about 25 years ago. A very fine field diamond from Pakistan indeed. Quartz from the Zhob region of Pakistan is primarily of hydrothermal origin, formed by the precipitation of silica from mineral-rich water within fractures and cavities. Specifically, the famous “Faden” quartz crystals likely grew through a crack-seal process in calcarenite to quartz arenite host rocks, likely of Jurassic to Cretaceous age, near Narezai.
