Description
#3092 – A 1.26 x 1.26 x 1.22 – inch specimen of Pyrite from Logrono, Spain. This specimen is from a truly classic locality for Pyrite. The pyrite from the Logroño region of Spain (specifically from areas like Navajún in the Cameros Basin) has a unique geological origin involving low-grade hydrothermal metamorphism within sedimentary rock layers. The formation process occurred during the Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous periods, approximately 120 million years ago, in the sediments of a large delta that covered the Cameros Sierra.
